Klára Mrkusová Glass Engraving

 

Arabesco, Sacramento, Ezopus... are themed drinking glass sets

(water, wine, whiskey, liquor) engraved with a series of historical linear

ornaments on a selection of glasses blown in the Czech Republic. 

The inspiration for my carving motive sets came from early

European woodcuts – the original book illustrations dating from the end

of the 15th century till the middle of the 16th century. I have been inspired

by the period which brought the transformation of the simple medieval art form

into the gracious style of the renaissance.​ Each glass is hand carved and therefore each engraving is a unique original. Designs are intended for small series. Each set is generally limited.
